About Me

In 2003, I was a 24-year-old woman in a difficult marriage and I worked at a job that paid squat and had no future. That was also the year I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder and began a years-long quest to find a healthy balance between the right medications, a more genuine relationship with Jesus Christ, and healing from a past of sexual abuse and family turmoil.

After getting fired from my dead end job, and receiving the diagnosis that would transform my life, I decided to try and earn a living pursuing my lifelong passion: writing. My very first professional gig was a small feature for a local weekly newspaper.

In 2005, my first book, Adventures in Holy Matrimony: For Better Or The Absolute Worst (Relevant Books, 2005) was published. Adventures was a memoir of sorts, detailing the first few tumultuous years of my marriage. (You can't make this stuff up.)

In March 2011, after years of here-and-there writing jobs, my very brave husband and I decided it was time for me to turn my couch into my office, and I became a full-time writer. I even went back to writing for the newspaper that gave me my very first job!

More importantly, I have been successfully treated for bipolar disorder, and God does miracles on my once-broken heart every moment of every day. I'm a work in progress, but who isn't?
